The VP Globe of 1969 belongs to the same era as his legendary Visiona exhibitions, and it shows. Rather than concealing the bulb behind an opaque shade, Panton hung a sculpture of curved reflectors inside a clear acrylic sphere, turning the mechanics of light into the spectacle itself — a small planet with its own glowing core. Light bounces between the reflectors before leaving the sphere, so the glow is soft and free of glare from every angle. The lamp is produced today by Verpan, the Danish manufacturer devoted to Panton's lighting, and this brushed-aluminium colourway was developed together with the Panton estate, drawing directly on the designer's lifelong fascination with colour psychology.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhere the classic chrome version is all gleam, the brushed-aluminium edition is quieter and more contemporary.
