The Oxford lamp was conceived for its long dining-hall tables, where rows of slender stems carry small discs of light down the hall — architecture in miniature. Louis Poulsen, the Copenhagen lighting house founded in 1874 and Jacobsen's lifelong manufacturing partner, brought the design back into production for the home.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThat upright, slender posture is what makes the Oxford so easy to place today.
