A 16.5 cm folding umbrella in Unikko and other prints
The Mini Manual is an ultra-light folding umbrella of about 220 g that opens by hand on a telescopic shaft and folds small enough for a handbag. It comes in Maija Isola's 1964 Unikko, the airy, line-drawn Piirto Unikko from 2022, the checked Pikku ruutu and the Marilogo pattern.

Unikko for grey days
Maija Isola created Unikko in 1964, after founder Armi Ratia had said Marimekko would not print florals. Ratia liked it at once. Under a rain cloud the big poppy is about as cheerful as an umbrella gets.
A drawn version
Piirto Unikko, from 2022, is an airy variation of the flower that leans toward minimalism and brings out its graphic lines. Pikku ruutu is a small check, and Marilogo repeats the Marimekko wordmark.
Manual and compact
The Mini Manual opens by hand on a telescopic shaft and folds down small enough for a handbag. Pull it out when the shower starts, then fold it back into its compact size once it has dried.

Designer och varumärke
Maija Isola
1927–2001
Maija Isola joined Armi Ratia's company in 1949, before it was even called Marimekko, and designed for it until 1987. In that time she drew more than 500 prints. She painted Unikko in 1964 in defiance of Ratia's rule against florals, and Ratia ended up picking it for the collection.
