This unbleached cotton sateen carries the Kukasta kukkaan pattern, printed in Helsinki, and is sold by the metre. The sateen weave gives the surface a soft sheen. Erja Hirvi painted the joyfully blossoming Kukasta kukkaan print during a burst of creativity at her summer retreat, fully immersed in floral inspiration. The loosely drawn design captures the many ways flowers appear in nature, and its Finnish name translates as from flower to flower, a nod to bumblebees moving between summer blooms.
Woven in Finland from 100% organic cotton, the fabric has a pattern repeat of 110 cm. It is available in Hay / Plum / Bronze / Terracotta and Off-White / Warm Pink / Pale Green. Follow the washing temperature given, wash with like colours and allow for shrinkage of up to 4%.
Its drape suits curtains and bedding as much as dressmaking, and it sits easily with pieces from the Marimekko collection.
