Pantop Portable on johdoton tulkinta Verner Pantonin klassisesta vuoden 1980 muotoilusta, ja siinä on säilytetty tunnusomainen kellonmuotoinen varjostin. Verner Panton (1926–1998) suunnitteli alkuperäisen Pantopin vuonna 1980, myöhään uralla, joka oli jo muuttanut käsityksen siitä, mitä tanskalainen muotoilu voi olla – muotopuristetusta Panton Chairista Visiona-näyttelyiden radikaaleihin, värikylläisiin sisustuksiin. Pantop merkitsi paluuta olennaisiin muotoihin: kellomainen varjostin, leveästi levittyvä ja aukko alaspäin asennettuna, ja väri kantaa ilmaisun painon. Panton uskoi, että väri on muotoilun toiminnallinen osa eikä jälkikäteen lisätty koriste, ja Pantopin rohkea väripaletti heijastaa juuri tuota vakaumusta. Kannettavan version valmistaa VERPAN – tanskalainen yritys, joka perustettiin vuonna 2003 valmistamaan Pantonin töitä hänen alkuperäisten piirustustensa mukaan – ja se kääntää muotoilun ladattavaksi, johdottomaksi valaisimeksi muuttamatta siluettia, joka teki siitä klassikon.
Vapaus pistorasiasta tekee tästä valaisimesta arjessa niin käyttökelpoisen. IP44-luokituksen ansiosta se siirtyy vaivatta yöpöydältä parvekkeelle, ruokapöydän keskeltä piknikviltille – erityinen etu pienissä kaupunkiasunnoissa, joissa pistorasioita on vähän ja huonekalujen on taivuttava moneen. Panton's 1980 bell shade, corded or cordless
Verner Panton designed the Pantop in 1980. Its bell-like shade flares wide and is mounted with the opening facing down, so the light falls where it is needed. Verpan makes it as a Ø23 pendant and table lamp and as cordless Ø18 portables, in many colours.

Panton colour

Soft, directed light
The shade sends the light downward, and an opal diffuser softens it on the table and portable lamps.
A late Panton classic
Panton drew the Pantop in 1980, after two decades of bold lamps and furniture. It is quieter than his space-age pieces, built on one confident shape, and has long been a staple of the Verpan collection.
Pendant and table lamp
The Ø23 pendant has a lacquered spun metal shade painted off-white inside, a chrome-plated stem and a 350 cm off-white textile cord. The table lamp sets the same flared shade on a chrome-plated base.
Cordless Pantop
The portable has a built-in LED with a three-stage dimmer and up to seven hours of light per charge. A silicone horseshoe under the base keeps it steady on a table, shelf or garden wall.

Verner Panton
1926–1998
Panton trained as an architect and worked early on in Arne Jacobsen's office. He broke with the wood-and-craft tradition of Danish design, using bold colour and new materials. VERPAN works with Verner Panton Design AG to keep his lamps and furniture in production.

Can the portable go outside?
Yes. The Pantop Portable is rated IP44 for indoor and outdoor use. Bring it inside to charge.
How do I charge the portable?
With the supplied 2 m USB cable. A full charge gives up to seven hours of light.
How high should I hang the pendant?
At Ø23 cm it works well in a row of two or three over a table or kitchen island, about 60–70 cm above the top.
How do I clean it?
Let it cool and wipe the shade and base with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth.
