Soma: mouth-blown vases named for the Greek word for body
Soma means body in Greek, and this Holmegaard series of mouth-blown vases is shaped by the body's soft curves and imperfect forms. Each piece pairs two colours, inside and out or collar and body, in powder-coloured glass, so no two vases are ever exactly alike.

Two vase heights and a pair of small tealight holders share the same colour pairs.
Shaped by the body
Soma takes the body as a fluid state rather than a template. The vases lean and swell like a figure in motion, and each one has its own silhouette and personality. The name comes from the Greek word for body.
Colour in two layers
The glass is coloured with powder, and each vase combines two tones such as pink with orange or light blue with aqua. The colours meet in glossy surfaces that seem to float around each other.
Made to meet, not match
Soma vases are not meant to be identical. Group a tall and a small vase in different colour pairs, add the tealight holders, and let the differences carry the display. Each colour pair has its own mood.
Matériaux
Mouth-blown glass
Formed by Holmegaard glassblowers, so small bubbles and shifts in colour are part of the piece.
Powder colour
Colour is worked into the glass in two tones that meet at the collar.
Care
Not dishwasher safe. Wash by hand in lukewarm water and dry with a soft cloth.

Holmegaard was founded in 1825 by Countess Henriette Danneskiold-Samsøe beside the Holmegaard bog near Næstved, Denmark. It has made both mouth-blown and machine-made glass for two centuries and has been part of Rosendahl Design Group since 2008. Soma is a house design.

Each vase is mouth-blown and coloured by hand, so shade and form vary slightly.
What candles fit the tealight holder?
Use tealights in a foil cup with a burn time of up to 4 hours, or LED tealights.
Which size should I choose?
16.5 cm for short stems on a table, 22.5 cm for taller flowers and branches.
Can I use it without flowers?
Yes. The colour and form are designed to stand alone as a sculptural object.
