Kay Bojesen
Kay Bojesen's songbirds, first drawn in the 1950s
Kay Bojesen drew his songbirds in the 1950s, but they were not put into production at the time. Today they are made from his original drawings in FSC-certified beech or oak, 15.5 cm tall, and many carry names from the Bojesen family. Story Birds add a glossy finish and a name token.

Names with stories
Ruth is named after Bojesen's Swedish daughter-in-law, Kay after Bojesen himself and Georg after his teacher Georg Jensen.
Colours to collect
Each bird has its own colour combination, so a row of them reads like a small flock.
Natural or glossy
Alfred is untreated oak and smoked oak; the Story Birds are painted beech with a glossy finish.
Made to give
A named bird suits christenings, birthdays, graduations and weddings.

A flock in the family album
The Bojesen family's terrace in Bellavista was full of flowers, wicker furniture and birds. A photo of a songbird in a family album, and a small flock glued onto a stick, led to the songbirds made today. There were originally five birds.

Named after the family
Kay is blue because Bojesen was a great fan of the colour and wore immaculate blue suits. Ruth honours his daughter-in-law, Georg in green with silver details nods to the Georg Jensen apprenticeship he finished in 1910, and black Ravn also comes at 20.5 cm.

Story Birds
Story Birds give the songbird a glossy finish and shifting colours drawn from life's emotions. Each wears a small token with its name in Danish and English, such as Hygge/Cosy in warm orange and Glæde/Joy in mint and aqua.

How big is a songbird?
The classic songbird is 15.5 cm tall, 16 cm long and 8 cm deep. Ravn large is 20.5 cm tall.
Are the songbirds hand painted?
Yes. Each painted bird is finished by hand, so small variations between birds are normal.
How do I clean them?
Wipe with a dry cloth, or a tightly wrung-out one for painted birds. Do not soak them or use cleaning products.
What makes a Story Bird different?
Story Birds have a glossy finish, graduated colours and a token on the chest with the bird's name in Danish and English.
Where should I display them?
On a shelf or windowsill out of direct sunlight, which can fade the paint and dry the wood.
