Panton's 1963 Barboy: a side table with drawers
Verner Panton designed the Barboy in 1963 as a side table and mobile storage unit in one. Three round drawers pull out fully, so the whole surface can be used. Shiny chrome handles and castors contrast with the matt painted body.

Barboy is a typical example of Panton's furniture: a simple cylinder that does several jobs, finished with a contrast of matt painted surface against shiny chrome handles and wheels.
Three round drawers
Each drawer follows the round body and pulls out completely. Open, the drawers give extra surface for glasses, books or a remote control. Closed, the Barboy is a clean, colourful column.
Where it fits
At Ø38 cm and 72.5 cm high, it works as a side table by a sofa, a bedside table or a small bar trolley. It weighs 24 kg, so it stands firmly when parked, yet rolls easily on its castors.

Verner Panton
1926–1998
Panton trained as an architect and began in Arne Jacobsen's office. His furniture, from moulded chairs to mobile pieces like Barboy, used colour and new forms to change how people lived with objects. VERPAN reissues his furniture and lighting with Verner Panton Design AG.
