Velen beschouwen de Fun-collectie als een van Verner Pantons grootste meesterwerken in verlichtingsdesign. Sinds 1964 wekt de collectie vreugde en ontelbare verhalen.
De FUN 1STM Brass is een vloerlamp met een drieringig frame in messing-afwerking.
Toen Verner Panton (1926–1998) in 1964 de Fun-serie creëerde, was hij al Denemarkens radicaalste ontwerper — een voormalig assistent van Arne Jacobsen die de conventionele meubelmakerscultuur had verlaten voor experimenten met kleur, vorm en atmosfeer. Voor Fun koos hij handgesneden schijfjes van natuurlijk parelmoer, opgehangen in overlappende lagen, zodat ze glinsteren, wiegen en zacht tinkelen wanneer lucht door de kamer beweegt. Het contrast van deze messing-editie is bijzonder rijk: het warme metalen frame verdiept de gouden tinten die al in de schelp aanwezig zijn, en geeft de lamp een honingachtiger, avondlijker karakter dan zijn verchroomde zus. De serie wordt tegenwoordig geproduceerd door VERPAN uit Kopenhagen, opgericht in 2003 om Pantons ontwerpen authentiek te vervaardigen — ontdek meer in onze VERPAN-collectie.
De FUN 1STM Brass past bij interieurs die naar warmte neigen: gecombineerd met notenhouten meubelen, fluwelen bekleding of terracottatinten gloeit hij eerder dan dat hij fonkelt. Laat hem een leeshoek verankeren of naast de bank staan, waar zijn parelmoerkleurige licht gezichten en textiel evenzeer flatteert. In compacte stadsappartementen kan een statement-vloerlamp als deze zowel een gewone lamp als een kunstwerk vervangen — de oppervlakken blijven vrij terwijl de kamer zijn blikvanger krijgt. Panton's 1964 Fun lamps of seashell discs
Verner Panton designed the Fun series in 1964. Discs of seashell hang from stainless steel rings on a chrome or brass frame, and the light glows through them. The family runs from small pendants to XL ceiling clusters, with table, floor and wall lamps.

Natural shell
Each disc is seashell, so the light comes through warm and softened.
Many forms
Pendants, XL clusters, table, floor and wall lamps share the same discs.
Chrome or brass
Several models come with a chrome-plated or brass-plated frame.
Small to grand
The 2DM is Ø27 cm, while XL models reach Ø100 cm and 2 m in height.
Shell instead of paper
Panton designed Fun in 1964, at the height of his break with Danish design convention. Instead of wood or paper he used discs of shell, creating lamps that have kept their sense of play ever since.
Rings and frames
The 2DM has a two-ring frame, the 1DM three rings, the 0DM and 10DM four, and the 11DM five. The XL models drop the frame and hang shell clusters on transparent cords from a white lacquered ceiling plate.
Table, floor, wall
The 1TM table lamp stands 65 cm high and the 2TM 43 cm. The floor lamp is 120 cm with a three-ring frame, and the 1WM wall lamp brings the same discs to a 58 cm high piece on the wall, 22 cm deep.

1926–1998
Panton trained as an architect and worked early in Arne Jacobsen's office. He became Danish design's great experimenter with colour, form and unusual materials, from moulded plastic to shell. VERPAN works with Verner Panton Design AG to keep his designs in production.

Which bulb does it take?
One E27 bulb. The 1DM, 2DM, 10DM and 2TM are rated up to 25 W; the other models up to 60 W.
What cord comes with it?
Pendants hang on a 400 cm black fabric cord. Table, floor and wall lamps have a 220 cm transparent cord with an on/off switch.
Which size should I choose?
2DM (Ø27) for small rooms, 1DM (Ø45) over a small table, 10DM (Ø57) or 11DM (Ø70) over a larger table, and the XL models for high ceilings and stairwells.
How are the XL models installed?
They hang from a separate ceiling plate and are large and heavy, so have an electrician mount them.
How do I clean the shell discs?
Dust them with a soft, dry brush. Do not wet the shell.
