A practical brief
Louis Poulsen asked Wohlert for one pendant that would work in rooms of very different sizes. He reduced it to a single glass form that does the job without moving parts or extra shades.
Glass that stays lit
The quality of the mouth-blown glass keeps the whole globe evenly lit, so there are no bright spots. The opening at the base adds direct light to the surface beneath, giving both general and table light from one lamp.
Steel and opal
A brushed steel tube carries the globe in three sizes, Ø300, Ø350 and Ø400. Choose an E27 version with a 3 m cord, or an LED version with a 4 m cord and the driver built into the canopy.

Wohlert graduated as an architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1944 and taught there as a professor from 1968 to 1986. With his partner Jørgen Bo he designed the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, work that began in 1958.

Which bulb does it take?
The E27 versions take one E27 bulb of up to 70 W. A warm white E27 LED is a good choice. LED versions have the light source built in.
Can I dim it?
Yes. Use a dimmable bulb in the E27 version, or choose an LED version with phase dimming, DALI or Bluetooth.
How high should it hang?
Over a dining table, hang it low enough that the light falls on the table without blocking the view across it.
How do I clean it?
Switch off and let it cool, then wipe the glass with a soft, damp cloth and dry it.
