Karen Blixen Christmas: plated ornaments added every year
Karen Blixen Christmas is Rosendahl's collection of silver and gold plated ornaments, full of Christmas symbolism and tribute to the Danish author. Ole Kortzau made the first piece in 2007, Zarah Voigt adds faceted pendants, and new motifs join the collection each year.

Silver or gold plating
Most motifs come in both finishes, and mixing them on one tree or branch is encouraged.
A collector's tradition
New ornaments are added every year, so the collection grows with each Christmas.
Stories in metal
Angels, hearts, stars, cones and garden motifs carry Christmas symbols and a child's view of the season.
Durable zinc alloy
The small ornaments are robust enough for little hands to help hang them.

Ole Kortzau's small stories
From 2007 Ole Kortzau designed many of the ornaments, taking stars, hearts, angels and birds from nature and the Nordic Christmas. His motifs are a little puffed up and quirky on purpose, inviting you to look again at familiar Christmas characters.

Zarah Voigt's facets
Jewellery designer Zarah Voigt brings architectural lines and sharp contrasts to the collection. Her heart pendants, candy cornet and star candle cuffs draw on childhood memories of cutting white paper ice crystals with her father.

Rungstedlund in 2026
The 2026 motifs, Karen's Oak, Enchanted Acorn, Nuts About You and Under the Mistletoe, are inspired by the nature around Rungstedlund, Karen Blixen's Danish home. Each is about 6 to 7 cm and works in a window or on the tree.
Materials
Zinc alloy
The small ornaments are cast in durable zinc alloy, then plated and polished.
Plated stainless steel
Zarah Voigt's larger pendants and cornets are made from plated steel plate.
Silver and gold plating
Real plating develops a patina over time; do not polish it, wipe with a soft dry cloth and store pieces in their box.
Designer and brand
Ole Kortzau and Zarah Voigt
Designer and architect Ole Kortzau shaped the collection's visual identity with ornaments from 2007 through 2025. Jewellery designer Zarah Voigt designs faceted pieces year after year, and Rosendahl's own team created the 2026 Rungstedlund motifs.
Using it at home
How do I clean the ornaments?
Wipe them with a soft, dry cloth. They are not dishwasher safe and should not be polished.
Why does my ornament look darker after a few years?
Silver and gold plating develops a natural patina; storing pieces in their original box slows it down.
How do I hang the ornaments?
Most come with a ribbon or string for the tree, a window or a bunch of branches in a vase.
What are the star candle cuffs for?
The 3 cm stars sit around a taper candle to catch drips and suit Grand Cru candlesticks or an Advent candle holder.
Can I mix silver and gold?
Yes, the collection is designed so both finishes look good together.
