Panthella 320 Table Lamp V2

Designed by Verner Panton in 1971, the Panthella 320 is a medium-sized version of the iconic Panthella. Its translucent opal shade and high-lustre chrome trumpet base combine elegance with a contemporary look, casting soft, atmospheric light for a comfortable ambience.

Verner Panton (1926–1998) was Danish design’s great rule-breaker — a Royal Danish Academy graduate and Arne Jacobsen alumnus who traded teak and restraint for curves, colour and new materials. The Panthella, created with Louis Poulsen in 1971, embodies his idea of the lamp as a “light sculpture”: the hemispherical shade and trumpet-shaped base form one continuous gesture, with the base acting as a reflector so the whole object appears to glow. The 320 — named for its 32 cm shade — is the family’s middle size, introduced as Louis Poulsen revived Panton’s original proportions for contemporary homes, and its translucent opal acrylic shade glows softly across its entire surface rather than simply casting light downward.

At this scale the Panthella works almost anywhere: on a sideboard or console it reads as sculpture, on a desk or bedside table it gives a calm, even light that flatters the whole corner of a room. The mirror-polished chrome base picks up surrounding colours, helping the lamp blend into interiors from mid-century to minimal. In smaller apartments, a single 320 on a console can carry the evening lighting for an entire living room — ambient, warm and entirely glare-free.
