Flindt Garden Bollard

Designed by Christian Flindt with Louis Poulsen, the Flindt Garden Bollard brings elegant, functional outdoor lighting. Introduced in 2021 as part of Louis Poulsen's garden collection, this downscaled version installs easily in residential and commercial spaces, complementing everything from urban rooftops to natural landscapes. The flexible system extends to up to six bollards spaced up to five metres apart.

Christian Flindt trained as an architect before turning to design, and his work with Louis Poulsen is marked by a sculptor's patience: forms refined through software modelling, 3D printing and full-scale prototypes until light and shape become one gesture. The original Flindt Bollard, launched in 2017 for urban and architectural spaces, introduced the signature carved ellipse — a circular cut-out from which light washes down the bollard's own face and onto the ground, so the fixture illuminates itself as it lights the path. In practice, the Flindt Garden Bollard is as useful on a city balcony or rooftop terrace as in a large garden — a single bollard beside a bench or doorway creates a calm pool of light, while a row of them turns a path into a gentle procession. Because the light is directed downward, it marks routes and edges without glare or light spill, a considerate choice in dense neighbourhoods where windows face one another.
