The AJ Eklipta, designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1956 for Rødovre Town Hall, is architecture distilled into a lamp: a pure hemisphere of mouth-blown opal glass whose layered construction lets the whole surface glow evenly, with a softly luminous halo at the rim and no visible fixings to interrupt the geometry. Originally used both indoors on stairways and outdoors on facades, it has been produced by Louis Poulsen ever since.
Outdoors the Eklipta brings a calm, even glow to entrances, garden walls, balconies and covered passageways — mount a pair symmetrically beside a front door for a quietly formal welcome, or run several along a wall for gentle wayfinding; its disc-like profile hugs the wall on narrow balconies.
