The PH 4½-3½ Floor Lamp follows Poul Henningsen's original drawings from the late 1920s, though the floor version only entered the Louis Poulsen catalogue in 1990. A 45 cm top shade and lower shades in mouth-blown, three-layer opal glass sit on curves derived from the logarithmic spiral — the geometry that won Henningsen gold in Paris in 1925 — so every ray is directed downward and outward while the bulb stays hidden, carried on a slender chrome-plated brass stem.
This floor lamp earns its place beside a reading chair or sofa corner, where the downward light is comfortable for reading and the luminous shades warm the whole room; being completely glare-free, it can stand close to seating without tiring the eyes, and it needs no ceiling installation. Pair it with classics from our Louis Poulsen collection or compare our designer floor lamps.
