Yuh Table Lamp

The Yuh lamp, designed by Danish-Italian duo GamFratesi for Louis Poulsen in 2017, is a flexible, compact light that rotates, rises and lowers for personalised illumination. First offered in black and white, later in brass and marble, its minimalist shade transitions from a circular base to a linear opening at the top. The name "Yuh" is phonetically derived from "you", reflecting the lamp's adaptable, personal nature.

Behind the design stands GamFratesi, the studio of Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi, founded in 2006 and based in Copenhagen. Their work is often described as a conversation between two design cultures: the quiet functionality of Danish craft and the conceptual playfulness of the Italian tradition. With Yuh, the duo stepped into a lineage defined by Poul Henningsen, whose lifelong collaboration with Louis Poulsen established the company's guiding idea that a lamp should shape light, not merely hold a bulb. The Yuh Table Lamp honours that principle with a shade that throws a soft, glare-free cone of light downward — and then extends it with movement: the shade rotates a full 360 degrees and slides up and down its stem, letting you fine-tune both the direction and the height of the light without moving the lamp itself.

That adjustability makes the Yuh Table Lamp a quietly practical choice for compact homes, where one fixture often has to play several roles.
