Yuh Wall Lamp

Designed by Danish-Italian duo GamFratesi in 2017, Yuh for Louis Poulsen combines personal, flexible lighting with minimalist design. Launched in black and white and later expanded to brass and marble, its shade rotates, rises and lowers for customisable light while taking up minimal space. The geometric shade moves from a circular base to a linear opening at the top, and the name "Yuh" phonetically represents "you" — adaptable and personal.

GamFratesi is the Copenhagen studio of Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi, founded in 2006 and known for joining the quiet functionality of Danish craft with the conceptual playfulness of the Italian tradition. With Yuh, the duo joined the lineage shaped by Poul Henningsen, whose long collaboration with Louis Poulsen established the company's conviction that a lamp should shape light rather than simply hold a bulb. The wall version distils that idea into its most space-saving form: a compact sconce whose adjustable shade directs a soft, glare-free cone of light exactly where it is needed, so the wall itself becomes the lamp's stand.

That makes the Yuh Wall Lamp especially useful in rooms where surfaces are precious. Mounted beside the bed, it can replace a table lamp entirely and free the nightstand for books and a cup of tea — lower and angle the shade for reading, or turn it toward the wall for a calm, indirect glow before sleep.
