Pantop Ø23 Pendant

The elegant Pantop line, designed by Verner Panton in 1980, has long been a staple of the Verpan collection — defined by a bell-like, widely flaring shade mounted aperture-down. The Pantop Ø23 is available in Cream White, Vivid Orange, Cherry Red, Pitch Brown, Night Blue, Dark Teal, Light Teal and Chrome.

The Pantop arrived in 1980, in the mature phase of Verner Panton's career (1926–1998). Having spent the 1960s and 70s building a reputation as Danish design's boldest experimenter — the cantilevered Panton Chair, the spherical VP Globe, the walk-in colour worlds of Visiona — Panton turned to refining archetypes. The Pantop's bell-shaped shade is a study in how much a single curve can do: it shields the light source, directs illumination cleanly downward, and presents a sculptural profile from every angle. Colour completes the design; Panton considered it a functional element capable of setting a room's entire mood, which is why the family spans quiet creams and deep teals as well as vivid reds and oranges. Production rests with VERPAN, the Danish manufacturer founded in 2003 to make Panton's designs exactly to his original specifications.

The Ø23 pendant is the Pantop at an intimate scale, ideal where a full-size pendant would overwhelm: above a bedside table, a small desk, a bar counter or a breakfast nook. In compact city apartments, a row of two or three — in matching or deliberately mismatched colours — turns a simple counter into the room's centrepiece while keeping surfaces clear of lamps.
