1958 was the most remarkable year of Poul Henningsen's late career — it gave the world the PH 5, the PH Artichoke and the PH Snowball. While its siblings went straight into production, the Snowball waited until 1983 for Louis Poulsen to bring it to market. Its eight stacked aluminium shades are deliberately split: glossy on top to bounce light between the layers, matte underneath to soften what reaches the eye — so the pendant glows from its whole volume, like sunlight on packed snow.
More sculptural than the PH 5 yet more approachable than the Artichoke, the Snowball shines over a dining table or kitchen island, now also in dusty blue, dusty green and soft white with chrome or brass frames. Explore the Louis Poulsen collection or compare the 1958 classics in our PH 5 buying guide.
