Description

The PH 80 was created in 1974 as a tribute to Poul Henningsen on what would have been his 80th birthday, translating his 1920s three-shade principles into white opal acrylic — with the signature red top reflector warming the light's tone. The PH 80 Portable Lamp brings the story into the present: the same silhouette and shade geometry, now with a built-in rechargeable LED that frees this Louis Poulsen classic from the wall socket entirely.

Cordless and IP44-rated, it moves wherever the evening goes — dining table tonight, balcony or terrace tomorrow, bedside at the weekend; in compact apartments one portable lamp can replace several fixed ones. See our guide to the best portable designer lamps or browse the portable lamp collection.

Light source: built-in rechargeable LED, 4 W, 2700 K. Battery approx. 5 h at 100%, up to 32 h dimmed; USB-C charging (1.5 m cord included); switch on the base. IP44, indoor and outdoor.

Louis Poulsen

The 1974 PH 80, now cordless

Louis Poulsen created the PH 80 in 1974 to mark what would have been Poul Henningsen's 80th birthday. It puts his three-shade principle into white opal shades. The PH 80 Portable keeps that shape and adds a rechargeable LED with an IP44 rating.

Henningsen's shades

Three opal shades hide the light source and spread a soft, even glow.

No cord needed

A full charge lasts about 5 hours at 100% and up to 32 hours dimmed.

Indoors and out

The IP44 rating lets you use it on the dining table, the balcony or the terrace.

Replaceable batteries

Two rechargeable Li-Po batteries can be replaced when needed.

A classic made portable

A classic made portable

The portable keeps the silhouette and shade geometry of the 1974 PH 80. The built-in LED sits where the bulb used to be, hidden by the shades.

Chrome or white

Chrome or white

Choose opal white shades with a high lustre chrome-plated or a white base. Both give the same soft light.

Where it goes
