Toldbod 155 Bollard

Launched in 2006 and inspired by the PH Ellipse reflector, the Toldbod 155 Bollard has a sturdy, discreet form that blends into many architectural settings. Its precise, focused design provides elegant directed light — ideal for pathways, gardens and outdoor spaces.

The Toldbod family takes its name from Toldboden, the old customs quay on Copenhagen's harbourfront where Louis Poulsen kept its headquarters for decades — a fitting address for a company whose outdoor fixtures have shaped the look of Danish streets and waterfronts. Developed by Louis Poulsen's in-house designers, the Toldbod 155 applies the lesson of Poul Henningsen's PH Ellipse reflector to a bollard: the light source sits concealed inside a deep shade that throws all of its light downward in a soft, controlled pool, so you see illuminated ground rather than a glaring bulb. That glare-free principle — shaping light to serve people rather than to show off the fixture — has been the company's creed since Henningsen joined in the 1920s, and it is why the 155 reads as calm and architectural where many bollards read as bright dots.
