Tomoshi is the result of a meeting between two design cultures that share a deep respect for restraint and atmosphere. Oki Sato, founder of the celebrated Tokyo design studio Nendo, is known for designs that hide a quiet idea or a gentle twist inside an apparently simple object, while Louis Poulsen — the Danish lighting house founded in 1874 — has spent generations shaping soft, glare-free light in the tradition of Poul Henningsen. In Tomoshi those sensibilities converge: the silhouette recalls a small lantern carried by hand, an image with roots in both Japanese paper lanterns and Nordic candlelight, yet the execution is thoroughly contemporary, with a built-in dimmable LED and a rechargeable, cordless body.
