The PH 2/2 Luna — originally "the bedside lamp" of the late 1930s — offers both excellent reading light and a soft, calming glow. Designed by Poul Henningsen, its lacquered aged-brass frame and elegantly curved stem bring refined character to modern and classic interiors alike, on a windowsill, bookshelf or table.
The Luna belongs to the golden decade of the PH system. By the late 1930s, Poul Henningsen and Louis Poulsen had refined the three-shade principle — first honoured with a gold medal at the 1925 Paris International Exposition — into dozens of specialised fixtures, and the Luna was conceived for the most intimate task of all: light beside the bed. Its 2/2 configuration sets a 20 cm top shade over matching second-size lower shades, while the gently curved stem tilts the light toward the reader. The shades follow Henningsen's logarithmic spiral, so the glow stays even and the bulb hidden whether you are sitting up with a book or drifting off beside it.
Nearly ninety years on, the Luna still fits its original brief beautifully — and a few new ones. On a bedside table it gives true reading light without glare for a partner beside you; on a windowsill or low bookshelf it becomes a warm evening landmark in the room.
