Throughout his career, Verner Panton treated colour as a building material in its own right — something to construct a room with, not merely decorate it. He moved between media with unusual freedom, applying the same chromatic conviction to furniture, textiles and lighting, and the VP Globe became one of his most enduring vehicles for that idea. In this edition, the two large internal reflectors are rendered in coloured glass with red and blue splashes, setting a centuries-old material inside a thoroughly space-age acrylic shell. The pairing matters: where lacquered metal reflects colour, glass transmits it, so the lit globe glows from within and scatters soft, tinted highlights across the transparent sphere. Verpan, the Danish manufacturer responsible for Panton's lighting designs, builds this version with the same suspended-reflector architecture as the original, making it the most painterly member of the VP Globe family.
