VL Ring Crown 2 Wall Lamp

The VL Ring Crown family, designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen for the Danish Broadcasting House in the 1940s, is a true icon of Danish design. Though not initially used at Radiohuset, it later featured in Finn Juhl's interior for the Bing & Grøndahl porcelain factory (1947). Reintroduced in 2019 with triple-layer mouth-blown opal-glass shades on a polished-brass frame, it casts a soft, diffused light — timeless elegance for modern or classic spaces.

Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894–1984) was a defining figure of Danish functionalism, and his Radiohuset in Copenhagen — home of the Danish national broadcaster — remains one of the movement’s landmark buildings. In the spirit of total design, Lauritzen’s studio drew everything from the furniture to the door handles, developing the lighting together with Louis Poulsen, the Danish manufacturer that also realised the designs of Poul Henningsen and Arne Jacobsen. That the Ring Crown later found a place in Finn Juhl’s celebrated interior for Bing & Grøndahl says much about its quiet versatility. The brass frame is deliberately left untreated, so it develops a living patina over the years, while the triple-layer mouth-blown opal glass filters the bulb into an even, glare-free glow that flatters every material around it.
