VL Ring Crown 3-5-7 Pendant

The VL Ring Crown, designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen in the 1940s for the Danish Broadcasting House, has an organic, layered form. Never used in the building, it was reintroduced in 2019 in untreated polished brass with glossy white, mouth-blown opal-glass shades — available with three, five or seven shades for a warm, authentic light in modern interiors.

Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894–1984) was one of the founding figures of Danish functionalism, and his Radiohuset in Copenhagen — the home of the Danish national broadcaster — remains a landmark of the movement. Working in the tradition of total design, his studio shaped everything from furniture to fittings, and developed the building’s lighting together with Louis Poulsen, the Danish manufacturer that also produced the icons of Poul Henningsen and Arne Jacobsen. The Ring Crown pendant belongs to that lineage: a small crown of mouth-blown opal-glass shades gathered on a polished brass frame. Because the brass is left untreated, the fixture develops a natural patina over the years and grows more characterful with age, while the opal glass turns each bulb into a soft, glare-free point of light — a gentle, festive glow rather than a single hard source.
