The Unikko Cotton Sateen Fabric is a heavyweight printed sateen carrying the 1964 poppy by Maija and Kristina Isola, screen printed in Helsinki. Unikko, a symbol of creativity, was born at a time when hardly any floral designs featured in Marimekko collections. Maija Isola was fascinated by flowers and went on to design a whole range of novel floral prints.
Woven in Finland from 100% organic cotton, it has a lustrous sateen surface, a pattern repeat of 98 cm and is sold by the metre. Choose from Plum / Cranberry / Off-White, Coral / White / Pastel Green and Pastel Green / White / Warm Pink. Wash with like colours at the given temperature and allow for shrinkage of up to 4%.
Its weight suits curtains, blinds and cushion covers, and shorter cuts frame well as textile art. Combine it with the Marimekko collection.
