PH 2/1 Pale Rose Brass Table Lamp

The PH 2/1 Pale Rose Brass Table, designed by Poul Henningsen, gives discreet yet clear light with a cosy ambience. Henningsen loved subtle rose hues — first seen in his Rosa Septima and Artichoke — and the compact PH 2/1 suits small tables, shelves and windowsills. Pale-rose mouth-blown Italian glass, brushed brass and a white textile cord make it striking even unlit, while the brass base develops a natural patina over time.

Henningsen's fascination with coloured glass dates to the late 1920s, when he experimented with rose, amber and yellow shades to soften the cold cast of early electric bulbs. The three-shade system itself was born in 1925–26, when his logarithmic-spiral geometry won a gold medal at the Paris International Exposition and launched a lifelong partnership with Louis Poulsen. In the PH 2/1, a 20 cm top shade works with the smallest lower-shade set, scaling the system's glare-free, layered light down to an intimate format. The pale-rose glass revives Henningsen's original colour studies, each shade mouth-blown in Italy so that no two lamps are exactly alike.

At this scale, the PH 2/1 excels where space is tight.
