This small rectangular plate belongs to the Oiva series that Sami Ruotsalainen designed for Marimekko, here printed with Unikko. The pattern appeared in 1964, when the design house's collections featured mostly abstract prints and Maija Isola wanted to make something interesting from an organic theme; the poppy now represents creativity.
Made in Thailand from 100% white stoneware, the plate measures 15 x 12 cm and is dishwasher, oven, microwave and freezer safe as well as food safe. It comes in White / Dark Green / Beige / Light Sand. Remove the sticker from the base before use, as it contains a small amount of metal.
Use it for butter, cheese or a piece of cake, and combine it with the Oiva bowls and mugs in the Marimekko collection.
