Arne Jacobsen Clocks
Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) designed clocks the way he designed door handles and cutlery: as fittings for buildings he was already drawing. The dials that came out of those commissions (for Danish town halls and the national bank) were never conceived as products, which is why they still read like signage rather than decoration.
Four series remain in production under Rosendahl. The Bankers Wall clock Ø29 cm keeps its bar markers and slim hands; the Roman Wall clock Ø48 cm uses numerals cut to the same weight; and table versions such as the City Hall Table clock Ø11 cm and the Station Table clock Ø11 cm shrink the same dials to eleven centimetres.
Matching barometers, thermometers and hygrometers are made on the Bankers dial, so a wall can be built up as a small row of instruments.
