The Marimekko Unikko Plate is a large plate cut to the outline of the Unikko poppy, its petals forming the rim. Unikko was drawn by Maija ja Kristina Isola in 1964, at a time when almost no floral designs appeared in Marimekko collections; Maija Isola was fascinated by flowers and went on to create a whole range of new floral prints, and the poppy has stood for creativity ever since.
It is made in Thailand from white stoneware with a brown glaze, which can give the surface a lively colour, and measures 32 cm across. The plate is food safe and comes in Chestnut, packed in the Marimekko logo pattern box; hand washing is recommended.
Use it as a serving plate for bread or fruit, or lean it against the wall of a dresser as a piece of decoration, and see more tableware in the Marimekko collection.
