A slightly smaller version of the classic Hammershøi mug by Hans-Christian Bauer, sized for black coffee, filter brews or a small cup of tea. It keeps the recognisable grooves and the traditional handle of the series.
Made of white glossy glazed porcelain, it holds 25 cl and measures 8.5 cm in height and 8.5 cm in diameter. The mug is dishwasher and microwave safe and matches the other Hammershøi tableware from Kähler.

Hans-Christian Bauer based Kähler's Hammershøi tableware on the grooved pottery of Svend Hammershøi, who worked with Kähler from 1893 until 1948. The white porcelain range covers plates, deep plates, bowls, oven dishes, cups, a teapot and a jug, all with the same fine fluting.

A Kähler champion
Svend Hammershøi, younger brother of the painter Vilhelm Hammershøi, worked with Kähler in Næstved from 1893 until his death in 1948. His pottery is known for strong contours and distinct grooves, and those grooves are what Hans-Christian Bauer took up for this series.
A full table
Plates come at 19, 22 and 27 cm, deep plates at 21 and 26 cm, and bowls from 11 to 30 cm. Cups, a 1.2 l teapot with a built-in strainer, a jug, a sauce boat, an etagere and two ovenproof dishes complete the service.
Designed for today
The first collection had 13 designs. Bauer gave the series minimal lines and rounded shapes, and his work became a modern classic for Kähler, used in Denmark and well beyond for more than a decade.

Hans-Christian Bauer
Hans-Christian Bauer is a Norwegian-born designer who graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2010 and went on to found his own studio. As a teenager he collected design pieces from Norwegian flea markets, and he works from both historical shapes and modern technical solutions.
