Kähler
Kähler has made ceramics in Næstved, south of Copenhagen, since 1839, when Herman J. Kähler took over a small pottery there. The workshop built its reputation on glazes and on collaborations with artists, and the house style still shows it: simple turned forms, a strong horizontal rhythm and colour laid on by hand.
Hammershøi, named after the ceramicist Svend Hammershøi, who decorated for the pottery in the early twentieth century, is the everyday range. Its fine grooves are visible on the Hammershøi Jug 50 cl and the Hammershøi Espresso cup 10 cl. Among the vases, the Omaggio Circulare Vase H20 cm carries the series' hand-painted stripes, while the Ombria Vase H20 cm keeps to a matt, marbled glaze.
Glazes vary slightly from piece to piece, so two vases in one colour will rarely be identical, which is part of why they are usually grouped in threes rather than pairs.
