Veli — Italian for “veils” — is one of the signature families of Slamp, the Roman lighting house celebrated for treating lampshades the way couture ateliers treat fabric. Designed by Adriano Rachele, the Veli shade captures the moment a soft veil billows and settles, frozen in Slamp's patented Opalflex: a feather-light, unbreakable techno-polymer that diffuses light with a pearly, silk-like sheen. Where Northern European classics pursue strict optical geometry, Slamp's tradition is theatrical and tactile — every Veli is folded and assembled by hand in the company's atelier outside Rome, so the drape of the pleats varies subtly from piece to piece, like the garment that inspired it. The result is a lamp that reads as soft sculpture by day and becomes a glowing, weightless cloud of light by night.
