The PH 80 was created in 1974 as a tribute to Poul Henningsen — one of Denmark's most celebrated lighting designers — on what would have been his 80th birthday. Part of the famous PH series, the PH 80 Table follows his glare-free, multi-shade principles, giving warm, diffuse, indirect light for homes and professional spaces alike.
Henningsen (1894–1967) built his reputation on a simple conviction: artificial light should flatter people the way candlelight does. Every shade in his lamps follows a curve derived from the logarithmic spiral, catching the light at a constant angle and redirecting it so the bulb never meets the eye. The original PH 80 carried those 1920s principles into the 1970s, swapping mouth-blown glass for opal acrylic — lighter and beautifully even in its glow — and adding a concealed red top reflector that nudges the light towards the warm end of the spectrum. This table edition pairs that heritage silhouette with a built-in rechargeable LED, so the lamp works wherever it is set down, no socket required.
