EB 27 StL Buquet Floor Lamp

Also based on Édouard-Wilfrid Buquet's 1927 patent, the EB 27 StL floor lamp adapts the desk-lamp concept into a tall version. TECNOLUMEN added a metal stand housing the transformer while retaining Buquet's pivoting arms and counterweights. Silver or nickel plating gives the slender frame an industrial-chic look, and each lamp bears the TECNOLUMEN signet.

The original EB 27 was born in Paris, where the French craftsman Édouard-Wilfrid Buquet patented its system of articulated arms and counterweights on 9 February 1927 — a task lamp that balances itself in any position without screws or clamps, prized by the architects and designers of the late-1920s avant-garde. The StL floor version translates that mechanical elegance to standing height: the same pivoting geometry rides on a slender column whose base discreetly houses the modern transformer. It is produced by TECNOLUMEN of Bremen, the German manufacturer respected for its faithful re-editions of early modernist classics, and each numbered example carries the maker's signet as proof of provenance.

A floor-standing task lamp is one of the most useful tools in a small home, and the EB 27 StL is among the most graceful. Pull it up beside a reading chair or sofa and the counterweighted reflector swings precisely where the page needs it; push it behind the armrest and it all but disappears, its slim silhouette claiming almost no floor area.
