Édouard-Wilfrid Buquet
Édouard-Wilfrid Buquet (b. 1866) remains largely a mystery, but his 1927-patented “EB 27” lamp gained iconic status in the Art Deco movement. Known for nickel-plated brass and adjustable arms, the lamp embodied technical sophistication and sleek elegance. MoMA in New York showcases one of these lamps, reinforcing Buquet’s historical importance in functional design. Though overshadowed by contemporaries, his creations are now revered for their timeless geometry and forward-thinking approach. Buquet’s work exemplifies the fusion of practicality and artistry characteristic of early modern lighting.
