designed by Marc Sadler
Marc Sadler's Accordeón Battery uses Slamp's technopolymers to evoke pleated fabric or an accordion's bellows. The satin-white shade gives uniform light, paired with a white or matte-black base and a semi-matte anodised-aluminium stem. Cordless and portable, it sets the mood for intimate dinners or large events, lasting up to 60 hours per charge and rechargeable in multiples via a dedicated station.
Marc Sadler is one of the most decorated figures in Italian industrial design — a multiple winner of the Compasso d'Oro, Italy's highest design honour, and a long-time collaborator of Slamp, the Rome-based lighting house founded in 1994 that built its reputation on hand-worked technopolymer shades. With Accordeón, Sadler translates the soft geometry of folded fabric into a material that is light, resilient and safe to handle, giving the lamp its instantly recognisable pleated silhouette while keeping the diffused glow even and warm.
Because it needs no socket, Accordeón Battery moves wherever the evening goes: from the dining table to the balcony rail, from a bedside shelf to the edge of a bathtub-side stool. That freedom is especially welcome in compact city apartments — common across urban Asia — where power outlets rarely sit where you want your light. Use a single lamp as an intimate table centrepiece, or scatter several through a living room to build soft layers of light without any visible cabling. Our roundup of the best portable designer lamps shows how it compares with other cordless icons.
