designed by Adriano Rachele
Clizia features an intricate arrangement of shapes that capture natural beauty — like a cloud or treetop, it filters light in a gentle play of reflections and shadows. The cordless Battery version installs effortlessly thanks to a practical magnetic system, transforming any room into a luminous landscape.
Clizia was designed by Adriano Rachele for Slamp, the Italian lighting house founded in 1994 by Roberto Ziliani and known for working with innovative techno-polymers instead of glass. The lamp takes its name from Clizia — Clytie in Greek myth — the nymph who, transformed into a flower, forever turns her face toward the sun: a fitting namesake for a design built entirely around the pursuit of light. Each shade is composed of dozens of soft modules in Slamp's Opalflex® material, cut and assembled by hand so that no two lamps diffuse light in exactly the same way — a piece of Italian craftsmanship in a thoroughly contemporary material.
The Battery edition is the most flexible way to bring Clizia home, and a quiet hero for small-space living. Because it is rechargeable and completely cordless, it goes wherever the evening takes you: a bedside table tonight, a balcony dinner tomorrow, a bookshelf or windowsill the day after — no outlet planning, no visible cables. In compact city apartments, where a single room often serves as living room, office and dining space at once, a portable lamp like this lets the lighting follow the room's changing roles. Its soft, cloud-like glow works beautifully as a low evening light next to brighter task lighting, and a pair placed at different heights creates an instantly atmospheric corner.
