Sebastian Herkner, born in Offenbach am Main in 1981, is one of the most celebrated German designers of his generation, known for giving traditional materials and craft techniques a fresh role in contemporary design. His breakthrough came with the Bell Table for ClassiCon in 2012, which famously inverted convention by resting a metal top on a base of mouth-blown glass — and the Bell Light carries that family thinking into lighting, pairing softly rounded shades with precise cylindrical sockets. ClassiCon, the Munich design house founded in 1990 and custodian of Eileen Gray's celebrated designs, produces the series with the same attention to material and detail that defines its classics.

The Bell Light's interchangeable character makes it unusually adaptable at home. A single pendant hung low beside the bed replaces a table lamp and frees the nightstand entirely — a welcome trick in the compact apartments common across Asian cities — while a loose cluster at varied heights over a dining table or in a stairwell builds a warm, studio-like composition from one consistent design.
