Nendo

Nendo is a Tokyo-based design studio founded by Oki Sato in 2002, named after the Japanese word for “clay.” Inspired by clay’s malleability, Sato explores creative possibilities that fuse history, emotion, and minimalist forms. The studio’s work is understated yet often includes subtle cues that trigger fond memories or associations. Nendo’s designs embrace gentle curves and friendly shapes, resulting in inviting, comforting products. Beyond “form follows function,” Nendo also values storytelling as a key component of meaningful design.
