The WG 25 GL, introduced by Wilhelm Wagenfeld in 1925, extends the glass column for a more elongated shape. TECNOLUMEN follows his authorised measurements, combining opal glass and nickel-plated metal in a refined vertical silhouette whose harmonious proportions give a tranquil, diffuse glow. Each piece carries the TECNOLUMEN/BAUHAUS seal and a unique serial number.

The year after his celebrated 1924 Bauhaus lamp, Wilhelm Wagenfeld refined the idea further. In the WG 25 GL, the supporting column is glass rather than metal: a transparent shaft rises from a clear circular foot, carrying the cord visibly within. It is a quintessentially Bauhaus gesture — nothing concealed, construction itself as the ornament — and it lends the lamp a lighter, almost weightless presence next to its metal-stemmed siblings. The hemispherical opal glass shade remains, turning a simple bulb into a soft, evenly diffused pool of light. Wagenfeld, who trained in the metal workshop of the Bauhaus in Weimar, went on to become one of Germany's most influential industrial designers, and this early lamp already expresses his lifelong conviction that everyday objects should be honest, useful and quietly beautiful. TECNOLUMEN in Bremen builds the WG 25 GL to the authorised specifications, and the seal and serial number on every lamp distinguish the genuine article from the many copies in circulation.

Because so much of its body is transparent, the WG 25 GL occupies a room with remarkable discretion — a real advantage in compact city apartments, where every object competes for visual space. The elongated proportions make it a natural fit for narrow consoles, window sills and bedside tables, and by day the glass column catches sunlight almost like a small sculpture. After dark, the opal dome delivers calm, glare-free light that flatters wood, linen and concrete alike, whether your interior leans Bauhaus, Japandi or Scandinavian modern. Pair it with other numbered re-editions from our TECNOLUMEN collection, or balance it with a taller companion from our designer floor lamps to build layered evening light. And if you are furnishing a home with limited square metres, our guide to designer lighting for small apartments shows how a few well-placed lamps can make a modest room feel larger.

Light source: E27 (E26 compatible), 1 bulb, max 60 W. IP20, indoor. Bulb not included — we recommend an E27 LED (6–10.5 W, 480–1055 lm).
