The Marimekko Unikko Bedspread is quilted from unbleached organic cotton over a recycled polyester padding, and it is two sided, with the Unikko pattern on both faces. Maija Isola drew Unikko in 1964, when Marimekko's collections were still dominated by abstract prints, shaping it as an abstraction of a flower rather than a likeness of one, and the poppy has stood for creativity ever since.
The main material is 100% cotton with a 100% polyester filling, made in Turkey, and the bedspread measures 160 x 260 cm in Linen and Off-White. Unbleached and recycled fibres give a lively surface where small patches of different colour may appear, so pieces vary. Wash with like colours at the temperature given, with shrinkage of up to 5%.
