AJ 50 Outdoor Wall Lamp

Launched in 2010 for the 50th anniversary of Arne Jacobsen's iconic AJ family, the AJ 50 Wall brings the celebrated design outdoors. Originally created for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen (1960), the AJ collection is known for its sleek, timeless aesthetic. Developed specifically for LED, it combines energy efficiency with the elegance of the original.

The SAS Royal Hotel was Arne Jacobsen's total work of art: the Danish architect designed not only the building but its furniture, textiles and lighting, down to the door handles. The angled, asymmetric shade of the AJ lamp — echoing the tilted profile of his Swan and Egg chairs from the same project — became one of the most recognisable silhouettes in Danish design. For the 2010 anniversary, Louis Poulsen, Jacobsen's original lighting partner founded in Copenhagen in 1874, re-engineered the form around a built-in LED and weather-sealed construction, so the same graphic profile could finally move outside.

Outdoors, the AJ 50 does its best work beside a front door, along a balcony wall or on a covered terrace, where its shade directs light downward onto steps and thresholds without glare.
