Floor Lamps
A floor lamp does two jobs at once: it lights the corner a ceiling fixture misses, and it occupies the room as an object. Because it needs no wiring, it is also the quickest way to change how a room reads: beside a sofa for reading, behind an armchair for indirect glow, or in an empty corner to give it purpose.
The range covers Danish and German classics alongside contemporary pieces: the AJ Floor Lamp, from Arne Jacobsen's 1957 scheme for the SAS Royal Hotel; the layered PH 80 Floor Lamp; the NJP Floor Lamp with its jointed arm and rotating head; and the domed Panthella Floor Lamp.
Check the shade before choosing. A downward-facing shade concentrates light for reading, while opal glass and Henningsen's slotted shades spread it around the room; an adjustable arm covers both if the lamp has to serve a chair and a corner.
