designed by Poul Henningsen
Poul Henningsen designed the three-shade system between 1925-1926, which aimed to create glare-free, directed light with soft shadows. The first lights using this system were created in collaboration with Louis Poulsen for a Paris exhibition. PH 4½-3½ Glass Table is part of this system, which has evolved to include over 30 lights today. The system has been used in table, floor, and wall lamps, as well as chandeliers. PH’s design was based on a logarithmic spiral, ensuring even light distribution and reducing glare. The PH 4½-3½ Glass Table features a 45 cm top shade with lower shades from the 3½ model. Introduced in 1990, this lamp continues PH’s legacy of functional and aesthetic lighting design.
