Inspired by the tulip
The swelling body and narrow mouth follow a tulip bud.

A tulip in glass
Maria Kariis took the luxuriant shape of the tulip as her starting point. The swelling body narrows to a small mouth, like a bud just before it opens. It works with flowers or left empty as a glass sculpture.
Weight and colour
Blown in heavy, deep blue or green glass, the vases hold light in their curves. The 45 cm floor vase weighs 7.7 kg, so it stays steady with tall branches. Both sizes come in the same two colours.
Where to use it
Set the floor vase in a hall or by a window with seasonal branches to welcome guests. The 34 cm suits a sideboard or a corner, with flowers or none at all. Each vase is mouth-blown, so no two are quite alike.

Maria Kariis graduated as an industrial designer from Beckmans School of Design, Stockholm, in 1998 and also studied at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Sweden. She founded her own design company in 1998 and began working with Holmegaard on glass in 2006.
