The Marimekko Oiva / Räsymatto Bowl is a small rice bowl in white stoneware, printed with the black and white Räsymatto rag rug pattern. Maija Louekari drew Räsymatto in 2009 after the rag rugs of allotment cottages, a pattern tied to sustainable living and the pleasure of working with your hands.
Made in Thailand from 100% white stoneware, it holds 3 dl and is dishwasher, oven, microwave and freezer safe. It comes in White / Black. Remove the sticker from the base before use, as it contains a small amount of metal.
Use it for rice, soup or breakfast cereal, and stack a set with the Oiva plates from the Marimekko collection.

Oiva stoneware wearing Maija Louekari's 2009 rag rug
DesignerMaija Louekari
Räsymatto is Maija Louekari's 2009 drawing of the rag rugs found in Finnish allotment cottages, made for the Oiva tableware by Sami Ruotsalainen, which first appeared that same year. The black and white print runs over white stoneware mugs, bowls, plates and a deep serving dish.

Oven to freezer
Every piece is dishwasher, oven, microwave and freezer safe.
Graphic and calm
Black on white works with plain Oiva pieces and with louder prints alike.
Sizes that build a set
Two mugs, two bowls, two plates and a large dish cover breakfast to dinner.
Made for daily use
Oiva was designed for the home, as part of everyday life, not for best.

A rug on the plate
Louekari drew Räsymatto after the rag rugs of allotment cottages, with sunlight playing across their figures. It belongs to the Siirtolapuutarha collection, which shows country life in an urban setting, and it speaks of sustainable living and handwork.

Seven words for Oiva
Marimekko asked for tableware that would stay contemporary for 100 years and go with its bold patterns. Sami Ruotsalainen picked seven guiding words: honest, relaxed, natural, practical, durable, modern and grounded.

Mug, bowl and plate
The range has 2.5 and 4 dl mugs, 2.5 and 3 dl bowls, 20 and 20.5 cm plates and a 3 l serving dish. The mug and plate set holds two 2.5 dl mugs and two 20 cm plates, a ready start for two people.
Materials
- White stoneware
- Dense and sturdy, and safe in the dishwasher, oven, microwave and freezer.
- Räsymatto print
- Black rag rug figures on white, so food and table linen stay in focus.
- Made in Thailand
- All Oiva / Räsymatto pieces are produced in Thailand in 100% white stoneware.
Maija Louekari is a Finnish designer who drew Räsymatto in 2009 for the Oiva tableware. On designing mugs she says: "I make sure that the side of the mug where you drink, is perfect." The Oiva shapes themselves are by Sami Ruotsalainen.
Using it at home
Can it go in the dishwasher and oven?
Yes. All pieces are dishwasher, oven, microwave and freezer safe.
Which bowl suits rice?
The 3 dl bowl is the rice bowl size; the 2.5 dl bowl suits yoghurt, dips and desserts.
Does it mix with other Oiva pieces?
Yes. Räsymatto is printed on standard Oiva shapes, so it sets alongside white and other patterned Oiva.
What are the bowls made of?
Both bowls are 100% white stoneware printed with the Räsymatto pattern.
Can I store leftovers in them?
Yes. They are freezer and microwave safe, so food can be chilled and reheated in the same bowl.
