The Marimekko Räsymatto Plywood Tray is a narrow rectangular tray in laminated birch plywood, printed with the black and white rag rug pattern. Maija Louekari drew Räsymatto in 2009 after the rag rugs of allotment cottages, a pattern tied to sustainable living and the pleasure of working with your hands.
Made in Sweden from 100% birch wood, it measures 15 x 32 cm, is food safe and can go in the dishwasher. It comes in White / Black.
Its long shape suits a butter dish and knife, a row of glasses or a candle and matches beside the basin. See the round sizes in the Marimekko collection.

Birch plywood trays printed with five Marimekko prints
DesignerMarimekko design team
These round and rectangular trays are made in Sweden from laminated birch plywood, light enough to carry fully loaded. Each carries a Marimekko print, from Armi Ratia's 1952 Tiiliskivi and Maija Isola's 1964 Unikko to Maija Louekari's Räsymatto and Erja Hirvi's 2024 Kukasta kukkaan.

Light but strong
Laminated birch plywood keeps even the 65 cm tray light to carry.
Food safe surface
Serve bread, cheese and cakes straight on the printed face.
Becomes a table
The 65 cm trays fit the Marimekko oak tray stand to make a low table.
Prints across decades
Five prints from 1952 to 2024 to suit any room.
Layers of birch
Thin sheets of birch are glued in layers and pressed into shape. The result is stiff, light and stable. On some trays the birch grain stays visible beneath the print, so no two look quite alike.
Five prints
Tiiliskivi (1952) is Ratia's brick grid. Unikko (1964) is Isola's poppy. Fokus (2001) is a black and white print by Anna Danielsson. Räsymatto (2009) is Louekari's rag rug, and Kukasta kukkaan (2024) is Hirvi's painted floral.
Sizes for serving
The 15 x 32 cm tray holds a row of cups or a bread loaf. The 31 cm tray suits coffee for two. The 46 cm tray carries a full round, and the 65 cm tray holds a whole spread or rests on a stand as a table.
Materials
- Laminated birch plywood
- Made in Sweden; light and rigid, so a loaded tray stays easy to carry.
- Printed, sealed surface
- Food safe; wipe with a damp cloth and a little mild detergent.
- Natural reverse
- The 46 cm Unikko and Kukasta kukkaan trays keep natural birch on the back; keep it dry.
Marimekko was founded in Helsinki in 1951 and builds its homeware on its print archive. These trays bring together founder Armi Ratia, Maija Isola, Anna Danielsson, Maija Louekari and Erja Hirvi, five designers whose prints span more than seven decades.
Using it at home
Can the trays go in the dishwasher?
No. Wipe them with a damp cloth and mild detergent, and do not leave them to soak.
Is it safe to put food directly on the tray?
Yes. The trays are food safe, so bread, cheese and cakes can go straight on the surface.
Which trays fit the oak tray stand?
The 65 cm Tiiliskivi and Unikko plywood trays fit the Marimekko oak tray stand.
Can I put hot pots on them?
Use a trivet under hot pans and teapots to protect the printed surface.
Why does my tray look slightly different from the photo?
Birch grain and tone vary from sheet to sheet, so each tray is a little different.
