Det danske Glas, The Danish Glass, was created by glass artist Torben Jørgensen together with the Danish Beer Enthusiasts and Holmegaard. The mouth-blown beer glass has a wide surface for strong, vinous beers, and a 5 cl shot glass joins it for aquavit at the Danish lunch table.

A glass for the Danes' drink
Holmegaard, the Danish Beer Enthusiasts and Torben Jørgensen set out to make one good glass for beer, Denmark's everyday drink. The result is short, sturdy and mouth-blown. The Danish name simply means The Danish Glass.
Wide for strong beer
Its broad bowl gives vinous, high-alcohol beers a large surface to move on, which releases their aroma. A lager works too, with space for a thick head of foam. The glass stands 13 cm tall and holds 44 cl.
The Danish lunch
A classic Danish lunch includes aquavit. Chill the 5 cl shot glass briefly in the freezer, pour it ice-cold and set it beside the beer glass. The two glasses make a good gift pair as well as a good team at the table.

Torben Jørgensen trained in ceramics at the Danish Design School, where he founded the glass programme in 1973 and taught until 1978. In 1991 he set up the glass workshop Jørgensen & Mørch Design with Jytte Mørch, and he has worked with Holmegaard since 1997, mainly on functional glass.
